Classic Summer Activities for Kids

Classic Summer Activities for Kids

I never went to summer camp. It feels good to get that off my chest. Some of my friends were repeat summer campers. They would come back from two weeks of camp with braided friendship bracelets, swimsuit tan lines, and cafeteria chants. They were annoyingly upbeat. Personally, I learned about summer camp the old fashioned way: By watching The Parent Trap

Create Your Own Backyard Oasis

Create Your Own Backyard Oasis

Create Your Own Backyard Oasis What does the term “oasis” mean to you? For me, it evokes cool water, lush greenery, and respite from the heat. When I hear “oasis,” I’m thirsty for its possibilities. Similarly, a backyard oasis draws me in with promises of peace, wellness, and rest—all available at the turn of a doorknob. If you’re ready to tap into the refreshing vibes of a natural spring without a plane ride or a roadtrip, then these backyard oasis ideas are for you.

Summer Swimspo

Summer Swimspo

The sun is shining, the days are long, and the beach is calling your name. Now that our favorite season is finally here, it’s time to fill your wardrobe with nothing but one-pieces and bikinis because let’s be honest, that’s what we’ll all be living in for the next three months. And in case you aren’t sure where to start, we’ve gathered up our summer swim favorites for you.

SAME Swim

When it comes to designer swimwear, this California-based swim line is the only one you need to know about. Not only do they feature the most gorgeous styles of handmade swimsuits, but each one is also made from Italian swim fabrics, giving you an unrivaled fit and feel wherever you go. The first swimsuit we added to our closet this summer? That gorgeous polka-dot bikini top and matching high-waisted swim bottoms — there’s nothing like a retro look to ring in sunny days.

Boys + Arrows

We recently introduced Boys + Arrows into the lineup, and boy, oh boy are we excited. They describe themselves as troublemaking, whiskey-drinking, bikini-wearing hooligans, and we are all about it. Besides the wild spirit of the brand, these seamless swimsuits are also some of the comfiest we’ve ever worn. They fit perfectly and will keep you running around easily, whether you’re lounging poolside in Palm Springs or running through sprinklers with your minis. Oh, and did we mention that they have a shark jaw printed top and bottoms? Yeah, we should probably mention that.

Beach Riot

Beach Riot is the ultimate in bold, yet ultra-chic swimwear. Their entire story revolves around rebelling from the norm and making waves, and with these California-cool swimsuits, they’re bringing that spirit of confidence to all of your summer style. If you're looking for full-coverage bikini bottoms and super comfy tops, Beach Riot takes the cake. We’re still swooning over the yellow matching swim set with those high-rise bottoms and the sport-style bikini top, and all we can dream about is a quick game of beach volleyball.

Tori Praver

Considering the fact that Tori Praver grew up in Hawaii, it's no wonder that she’s an expert in all things summer. These stunning swim separates feature an iconic smocking technique that she created to keep them as comfortable, easy to move in, and incredibly flattering as can be. If we had to choose a pattern of the summer, I think we can all agree that it’s stripes, stripes, stripes. So make sure you don’t sleep on this yellow striped high-waisted bikini bottom and top combo. But don’t stop there, when you can also add the one-piece strapless floral swimsuit to your vacay lineup.

The Top Travel Destinations for the New Year (Part Two)

Booked your first five flights yet? Well, we have five more spots to add to the list to round out our 2019 Top 10 Travel Destinations.  Ancient meets modern and adrenaline meets meditation in these unique stops so grab the kids or a sitter and get packing!

6. Uruguay

Top Travel Destinations: Uruguay

It might be South America's smallest country, but it should really be at the top of your travel list this year. With stunning historic architecture, a budding wine industry, and a two-month party (that's right, they have a hand in Carnaval as well), this is a spot that you better dedicate at least a week to exploring. Our favorite cities are Punta Del Este, La Pedrera, and Cabo Polonio, but anywhere you end up will be unforgettable.

What To Do

Being wedged between Brazil and Argentina, Uruguay is a good launching point to discover other South American destinations. In fact, you can hop on a ferry and take a day trip over to Buenos Aires, and add another country to your been-there-done-that list.

If you end up in Uruguay's capital city of Montevideo, your visit won't be complete without partaking in one of its favorite activities: dancing the tango. All you have to do is pick from one of the many milongas, and dance the night away. Bonus points if you find one that offers tango classes before — there's something about strolling in with at least the feeling like you know what you're doing that will make it all the better.

Coastal countries mean coastal adventures, so you have to make your way to Punta del Diablo and explore it by land and by sea. Okay, maybe you don't have to do both, but the surfing and hiking opportunities here will bring you to some of the most gorgeous views, so pick one and make it a day affair.

Where To Stay

  • Cabaña Navajuá - This holiday home has three bedrooms, so whether you're making this a girls' trip for the books or you want the whole family to make some memories, this will be a good place to settle. There's even a kitchen, so you don't have to plan restaurant outings for every meal.
  • Hotel Atlantico by Tay Hotels - Found right near the Punta del Este harbor, this hotel gives you easy access to many different shops and cafés (and the local lighthouse, for one of the most quaint settings you can imagine).
  • Hotel F&F - If the views of the sea aren't enough for you, the pool will be the perfect finishing touch for an unforgettable getaway.

What To Eat

You can't go to Uruguay without trying asado, so why not go for the best? La Pulperia is a good place to start, but you might as well try La Cocina de Pedro and Don Andres to get the full tour.

When fried dough is involved, you really can't go wrong. Head to clemete in Montevideo for some empanadas. And grab some sangria to complete the meal, of course.

For an experience like no other, Escaramuza in Cordón mixes in a garden terrace and a bookstore for the perfect way to spend an entire afternoon (or three).

What To Pack

With bigger cities and a lot of exploring to do, you'll want to find the ideal mix of comfort and chic style. The Jemme Dress will give you a bit of edge, and can easily be worn with sandals during the day or with heels for a night out.

Or even better, just slip on the Javi Mules to bring a wild twist to your wardrobe while still keeping you comfortable all day with the short heel.

7. Cambodia

Top Travel Destinations: Cambodia

Ancient temples meet urban cities in this Southeast Asian nation. It's officially titled the Kingdom of Cambodia, and once you spend some time there, you'll understand why. Make sure you do your research before you go, though — you'll have to get a visa to enter the country, which you may be able to get on arrival but make sure you have all of the necessary preparations.

What To Do

Any Cambodian travel guide will have the Temples of Angkor at the top of the list, but for good reason. This ancient site has some of the most intricate temples, being considered "Heaven on Earth," an honor that is very fitting. This sacred site culminates in Angkor Wat, one of largest religious buildings the world has ever seen.

Even with bustling cities and historic feats, somehow Cambodia rounds out the trifecta with tropical oases. The southern islands of Cambodia have something for every traveler —you can cozy in for a day on a hammock with your favorite book or take your day to the skies by zip lining through the forest at High Point Adventure Park

Where To Stay

  • Sokha Beach Resort - With a private beach surrounded by gardens, this family-friendly resort has everything you need for your trip: a holistic spa, activities for the whole family, and an array of restaurants.
  • White Boutique Hotel - Movie nights and music on the beach are just a couple of the treats that this beach sanctuary has to offer. And once you consider the private beach and outdoor pool, you'll be sold.
  • Holiday Villa Nataya - Both city and ocean views make this hotel the perfect place to retreat after a long day out and about. Plus, the kids pool will mean that your travel-savvy littles will have a good place to get out that extra energy while you can lay low.

What To Eat

Enjoy Cambodian flavors with the beautiful beach atmosphere at The Secret Garden Bar & Restaurant.

Cocktails and burgers might not be on your Cambodian to-do list, but they should be now. The Joint in Sihanoukville is a place you'll be dying to make the long journey back to, so enjoy with caution.

Cocktails are best when served on vacation, and even better when served at a rooftop bar. Hit up Rock Bar for ocean views and tasty sips like you've never experienced before.

What to Pack

With a culture that is more on the conservative side, make sure that your style is a bit more covered. Long skirts and flowy pants will be the perfect go-to option. We packed The Best Pants for that gorgeous color and breezy fit. You can also dress things up a bit more with the Sharon Midi Skirt for a dressier dinner out.

It's also recommended to keep your shoulders covered, especially if you're looking to visit the temples in Angkor Wat.

8. Sri Lanka

Top Travel Destinations: Sri Lanka

With the gorgeous mix of ancient ruins, abundant wildlife, a tropical location, and cheap prices, Sri Lanka is one of our favorites on the list of unexpected travel destinations. It'll hit all of your adventure needs, but getting around is more of a slow process, forcing you to take it easy and settle in. One memory that all visitors come back with: the friendliness of the locals.

For being a relatively small country, Sri Lanka also stands out because it has a surprisingly high eight Unesco World Heritage Sites, with little travel time required between each one.

What To Do

You can't skip out on the ruins of Anuradhapura — here you'll see ancient pools, temples, and mound-shaped meditation buildings. You can get quiet here and find your center, or rent a bike to make sure you make your way around to see all of the dagobas.

We're firm believers that hiking is the best way to fully soak in all of the beauty a place has to offer, and luckily Sri Lanka doesn't leave us empty-handed in this arena. The 9.5km round-trip hike takes you on a journey through Horton Plains to its stark escarpment at World's End, and then back. It will only take you about three hours (and isn't too strenuous), but make sure to bring some layers because the weather can change by the minute. If you are wanting more of an immersive experience, you can even get a volunteer guide to lead the way.

Get more in-tune with nature by visiting the Uda Walawe National Park. You'll be able to see elephants, crocodiles, wild buffalo, and maybe even a leopard if you look closely enough. Admission also gets you get a park guide to take you around, so you won't miss anything. If you've been dreaming of seeing roaming elephants, here you go.

You almost can't even imagine a more perfect beach than Tangalla — white sand, bright turquoise water, and palm trees, of course. Laze around all day, and when you need a change of pace, there are restaurants located right on the sand. Just make sure you grab a coconut to sip from for the perfect scene straight from a dream.

Where To Stay

  • The Lakeside at Nuwarawewa - Stay here for a location focused on seeing all of your Sri Lanka to-dos, while keeping things serene with the spa, pool, and garden.
  • Wilpattu Tree House - Your childhood goals of dreaming under the stars in your treehouse will come true at this unique hotel. From here, you'll have an easy time reaching the city center, although you may find it hard to leave your haven in the trees.
  • Galle Face Hotel - If you're looking for luxury, this historic hotel will be ideal. It is located along the Indian Ocean (stay in the South Wing for views of the sea), with a private beach, hot tub, and steam room for the more relaxed of travelers.

What To Eat

After walking around in the sun, finding solace in an air-conditioned hideaway will be just what you need. Church Street Social offers a mixture of options from sandwiches to Moroccan lamb tagine. You can also grab a quick drink at the adjoining bar before your meal.

If you're looking for a boozy beverage, you won't find it at the Sanctuary at Tissawewa, but what you will find is a delicious four-course dinner (or a variety of other bites) and a unique colonial atmosphere.

While dining out overlooking at the sea, you'd be crazy to not order fresh seafood. Elita Restaurant has some of the best seafood, and brings views of the lighthouse and harbor.

What to Pack

While you're near the beach and on busy tourist streets, keep things casual and comfortable, like with the Sirena Shorts. These have a bit of a longer cut to keep with the customs, and the pattern will add such a fun pop to all of your photos.

When night falls, you might find yourself more on the chilly side, so we packed the Raquel Cardigan as an easy layering piece that can be worn with anything from a maxi dress to the Sirena Shorts and a plain tee.

We're all about that skin protection, so make sure you carry the Montana Stahl hat with you as an easy accessory that brings effortless style to any outfit.

9. Marrakech

Marrakech

The Marrakech that vaguely exists in your imagination, namely bright colors, is just a small slice of the wonderful experience you'll have in this Moroccan city. If you're looking for unparalleled shopping, architecture, and culture, you'll find more than enough to fill your time here.

What To Do

If a mall met a maze, you'd end up with something like Medina's souqs. The main markets are Souq Semmarine and Souq El Kebir, which you have to see for the experience of it all, but if you're actually trying to bring home some goods, smaller souqs will have the best deals for you. Make a day out of it and let yourself just get lost — with so many different things to see, there's no use getting stressed about following a specific route.

For those who have an affinity for fashion, Yves Saint Laurent is not just a brand, but a man who made an impact on the world. And when someone with that talent gifts an entire garden to a city, you have to pay it a visit. Jardin Majorelle features an electric-blue villa and gorgeous garden full of greenery (300 different plant species, in fact). Once you've explored the flora, stop at the art deco studio and then finish the day with the Musée Yves Saint Laurent.

You know how we said that Marrakech was as colorful as you imagined it? Well, we weren't lying. Not only does the Bahia Palace have gorgeous woven-silk panels and stained glass windows, but you'll also be mesmerized by simply staring at the colors on the exterior.

Where To Stay

Hotel & Ryad Art Place Marrakech - Situated in the heart of Medina, you'll love being able to retreat back to your temporary home whenever you need a moment of tranquility. And tranquil, it is. Even with its central location, they somehow managed to squeeze in a pool, so you and the kids will be able to splash (and lounge) whenever needed.

Dar Sofil - If you're looking to stay close to all of your vacation to-dos, this hotel right in Marrakech will be an easy choice. It will give you a comfortable place to call home while you're gone, while still bringing a Moroccan touch with the architecture. Once you see that outdoor pool, you'll be wanting to extend your trip another week (or two).

Le Palais Rhoul and Spa - Located outside of the city, here you'll find a more tranquil hideaway from the hustle of the city. With two outdoor pools, you'll love being able to take a dip to cool off from the burning sun (and the kids will have a blast splashing around). And don't miss out on the massage treatments — after a few long days out, you'll be looking for some time to take it easy.

What To Eat

The best part about a trip to Morocco? Moroccan food, hands down. Stop by Al Fassia for all of favorites you could need — tagine and couscous dishes may sound basic and straightforward, but they'll be anything but plain.

Okay, we weren't planning on suggesting an Italian restaurant while in Morocco, but once we discovered Limoni, we knew we had to spread the word. Found in a quiet neighborhood, this will be a fun little escape from the city to find your zen. That is, if your zen is a camel burger (but don't worry, they have all of your Italian faves as well).

After a day full of the most shopping you'll probably ever experience, treat yourself to a leg rest at Terrasse des Epices. It's found on the roof of the Souk Cherifa and brings in everything from Moroccan food to cheeseburgers, meaning even the pickiest of littles will find a delicious way to refuel.

What To Pack

Marrakech gets hot — like really hot — so we made sure to bring the Tabitha Maxi Dress to keep things breezy while also keeping respectful of the conservative culture.

We also couldn't pass up adding these Cabana Pants to our suitcase since they can be worn with so many different tops without taking up valuable luggage space. The first lesson of effortless travel is versatility, folks!

10. Samoa

Top Travel Destinations: Samoa

Found about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand, the main islands of Samoa have come about due to volcanoes erupting, so the terrain is about as unique as you could imagine. Of course, along the coast, the beaches feature soft sand and gorgeous bright blue water. However, as you move inland, the setting quickly changes to jungles, waterfalls, and volcanic mountains. Not to worry though, none of the volcanoes are active.

What To Do

Being a group of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you can't miss out on all of the great surfing. Our favorite feature of Samoan waves? They tend to be uncrowded, so whether you're just trying your hand at catching the waves or you're a bit more experienced, the pressure's off. Plus, the ocean temperature hovers around 80-degrees Fahrenheit, on average. There are some tips and tricks to having a successful surf in Samoa, so we would definitely recommend getting a guide from Manoa Tours (and taking lessons) to make sure you're staying safe and also finding the best spots.

When beaching sounds too bland but you aren't up for a big surf day, snorkeling is the perfect in-between activity. For the most gorgeous reef, the island of Upolu is always a great choice. Start at Lalomanu beach and just make your way into the water. Keep an eye out, and you might even spot a sea turtle (our personal favorite snorkel sightings).

If you make your way to the capital city of Samoa, Apia, you have to take a trip to Marketi Fou. It's a 24-hour market full of anything you could need for a day of shopping: food, coconut-shell jewelry, sarongs, and a drinking coconut for the ideal tropical refreshment.

Where To Stay

  • Tanoa Tusitala Hotel - This hotel is just a short walk from the city center, but with pools (including one for the kids), tennis courts, and gardens, you can find some mid-trip solace by spending a day just exploring the grounds. If you were hoping for large high-end resorts, Samoa doesn't have any, but this will give you that luxurious feel while still keeping with the culture of the islands.
  • Saletoga Sands Resort and Spa - It's right on the ocean, but with only 25 rooms, you won't ever feel like you're stuck on an overcrowded beach. We're all about bringing adventure to our travel, and with canoes, snorkeling, fishing, diving, and other water sports, there will be no lack of thrills on your trip. The kids will also have a blast splashing around the pool or hanging out at the kids club.
  • Le Vasa Resort - If you're going to a tropical country, there's no reason you should skip out on a water-front villa or bungalow. This small resort is more secluded, making it the perfect home for you to really find your inner peace. It's the farthest on this list from the city center, but if a beach-centered trip is what you were looking for, that won't be too much of an issue. You can kayak, pedal boat, bike, snorkel, and even visit their private island. We still recommend at least one day that you head to the city, but with shuttle and taxi services, that'll be easy.

What To Eat

Mi Amor in Apia is one of our favorites for their creative fusion of classic Samoan flavors and international dishes, with taro tacos, smoked BBQ, and even vegan options. Although we still can't stop dreaming of those taro fries.

Vegans rejoice: Krush in Apia is here to become your new favorite spot. They're technically a juice bar, but with crepes, burrito bowls, soup, and meatless burgers, we wouldn't be surprised if this is your daily lunch stop.

    What To Pack

Sun and sea mean one thing: swimsuits for days! Make sure you have one for every occasion with all of our favorite suits. We brought both one-piece swimsuits for when we are wanting to bring bolder vibes to our day and some mix-and-match bikini tops and bottoms.

Just slip the Bowie Tie Dress from Stillwater on top of your swimsuit-of-the-day for a breezy look ready to head to the beach (or grab a quick snack between swims).

The Top Travel Destinations for the New Year (Part One)

The Top Travel Destinations for the New Year (Part One)

For the last decade or so, celebrating the New Year has become synonymous with making a list of resolutions to change things we don’t like about ourselves. But this year, we’re foregoing all of those to-do lists that we never finish and making a 2019 list primed for adventure. So for all of you bohemian lovers out there, get ready to pack your bags, grab your passport, and make this year one of growth and culture (and amazing food and shopping) with part one of our top 10 favorite unique travel destinations.

    1. Kauai

    Kauai, Hawaii

Of all of the Hawaiian islands, this should one be at the top your list. It is the ideal mix of scenery unlike anything you’ve ever seen and a level of comfort (which is always nice, especially if you’re traveling with kids). With the most beautiful hikes, waterfalls, and beaches, you will have no problem filling your time with whatever activities you can think of.

    What To Do

Start your trip on the right note by picking one day to get up early and head to Waimea Canyon. The canyon is 14 miles long and 3,600-feet deep, bringing the most stunning views, but don’t let that spook you — there are a wide variety of trails that range from easy to difficult, so you can choose what you’re most comfortable with and then stumble upon some hidden gems that you can’t see from your car.

Ke’e Beach offers views of the Napali cliffs and a great beach, ready for you to settle in with a good book. When you need a quick break from the sand, it’s also a great spot for snorkeling, but make sure you stick around for the sunset views.

    Where To Stay

    • The Lodge at Kukui'ula - Family-friendly resort on Kauai's south side with three neighborhoods of vacation homes to suit your needs.
    • Koloa Landing At Poipu Beach - On Kauai's southern tip, this resort offers two pools, a luxurious spa, and an escape from your everyday life.
    • Waipouli Beach Resort and Spa Kauai by Outrigger - Cottage-style Poipu vacation condos are situated on 35 acres of verdant lawns on Kauai's most famous beach.

    What To Eat

Feeling glam? Check out Tidepools, one of Kauai's best restaurants for a fancy night out (and the perfect chance to pull out one of your new mumu dresses) with stunning views to keep things magical.

Enjoy a relaxed brunch at Sam's Ocean View for $5 mimosas all day — AKA the pinnacle of a great vacation.

Of course, you can't miss out on poké when you're staying on the ocean, so try Ishihara Market and then bring your favorites with you for a beach picnic.

    What To Pack

Make sure to have a hat on hand, from Lack of Color to not only protect your skin but keep you oh-so-chic while you’re at it.

With beaching taking up a good majority of your time here, you can't forget to bring the perfect swimsuit.

When heading to and from the beach, bring in some beach-inspired color by slipping on the Sarong. You can wrap it as a skirt or wear it as a dress, perfect for a midday trip for lunch.

Whether you're hiking, beaching, or strolling, these Quay sunglasses will stay comfortably on your face, protecting your eyes while also keeping you looking gorgeous.

And don't forget the beach dresses. Nothing goes better with vacation than a day-to-night dress that shines. Shop from any of our newest dresses.

    2. Bali

    Bali

When thinking of dream travel locations, Bali consistently tops the ranks. This gorgeous Indonesian island will quickly become your favorite place and will bring you to so many adventures that you’ve never experienced before. Flights to Bali can get pretty expensive, but if you set a Google Flights alert, you can keep an eye out for when they drop in price and jump on it. Of course, you don’t have to become fluent in Balinese but come in knowing “om suastiastu” (hello), “tolong” (please), and “terima kasih” (thank you) to get you by.

    What To Do

The temples of Bali are something that you simply cannot miss. Make sure your list includes Tirta Empul, where you can enter the holy mountain spring (keep in mind, you’ll have to go into the water in your clothes, so bring an extra outfit), Uluwatu Temple for the cliffside views and a sneaky monkey population, and Tanah Lot Temple for its unique location that can only be reached during a low tide.

There’s no lack of beautiful beaches in Bali. For the ultimate day of relaxation, Sanur Beach is a must-see. You can spend your whole day here easily, with local restaurants nearby so you can fend off the inevitable afternoon hangries. You’ll also see a lot of kites flying high at this beach, so relive your childhood and buy one from one of the nearby vendors to join the colorful crowds.

    Where To Stay

    What To Eat

Suckling pig is about as Indonesian as you can get, but if you're a pork connoisseur, you really can't pass it up during your journey. Warung Babi Guling is an easy choice for the best of the best.

We aren't going to say that dessert is all about the pictures, but when you can get the perfect Insta post while also treating that sweet tooth, Caramel Patisserie and Cafe will quickly become your go-to spot.

Cocktails are best when served on vacation, and even better when served at a rooftop bar. Hit up Rock Bar for ocean views and tasty sips like you've never experienced before.

    What to Pack

For long days in the sun, sunglasses are a vital necessity. But don’t forget that you’ll also be snapping hundreds of new Insta pics, so pack these retro-inspired Quay circle sunnies to take care of all of your eyewear needs.

Bring some color to your adventures with the Maxi dresses available on our website. Whether you're grabbing drinks with your best friends or you're enjoying the sights and scenes of this new destination. this will be a fabulous way to keep as comfortable as you are chic.

    3. Tulum

    Tulum, Mexico

Tulum is located just south of Cancun, but brings a completely different feel, with Mayan ruins, jungles, and the best white sand beaches with tons of bohemian-inspired shops to keep your wallet busy. Not to mention, Tulum is one of Mexico's top destinations for yoga retreats and boot camps — you won't have to look hard for juice bars or a yoga class to cure last night's tequila.

    What To Do

No trip to Tulum and the Yucatan Peninsula is complete without exploring the Mayan Ruins. Depending on how much time you have, there are several to choose from:

    • Ruins of Tulum - Located on the coast, these 1,000-year-old ruins will instantly transport you to a new world. Make sure you pack a swimsuit though — after exploring the ruins in the hot sun, you’ll be thrilled to jump into the ocean to cool down.
    • Coba
    • Muyil
    • Ek Balam
    • Xel-Há
    • Chichén Itzá

Swimming in an ocean is all well and good, but there's something so spectacular about exploring Mexico's cenotes after a long day of trekking around the ruins. Within driving distance from many of the ruins, you can explore the underwater caves as a great, adventurous way to wrap up your day. Each one brings a completely different vibe and environment, so try to make it to as many as you can.

    • Grand Cenote
    • Cenotes Dos Ojos
    • Sac Actun
    • Cenote Tankach-Ha
    • Cenote Zacil-Ha
    • Cenote Calavera
    • Cenotes Labnaha

Start each morning with a yoga class to find your zen no matter where the rest of your trip takes you. Sanará is a yoga studio found right on the ocean, giving you the most idyllic space that will leave you never wanting to go to any other yoga studio again.

    Where To Stay

    What to Pack

Take your meditation to the next level by using your favorites of these essential oils from Courtney and The Babes. And really, just keep them close by every other day, too, because you can never have too many good vibes.

With Tulum's artsy and bright vibe, you won't ever want to take off the Skippy Shorts. Let the shorts steal the show by keeping things a bit more subtle on top with this Chaser tank top. You can also slip this top on over a sports bra with yoga pants for the more athletic part of your trip.

Keep your bright theme going by slipping your essentials — phone, keys, wallet — in the purse collection. It's also the perfect way to keep what you need with you while shopping your way through the city.

    4. Sayulita

    Sayulita, Mexico

With Mexico being relatively easy to get to, we couldn’t limit our travel guide to just one Mexican city. Sayulita will give you a completely different feeling than Tulum and is one of the less touristy beach towns that you’ll find in Mexico. Besides enjoying margaritas all the livelong day (which you most certainly will be), you can fill your days with plenty of other activities.

    What To Do

No beach vacation would be complete without hopping on a surfboard and trying to ride the waves (or just trying to stand up, which is pretty impressive as it is). Check out surf school if you want to go in with at least a little bit of an idea of what to do, and have a fun way to get acquainted with your fellow travelers.

    What To Eat

With limes and salt, margaritas could count as a full meal in theory — right? Well, whatever the answer, check out Le Zouave de Hafa for the best (namely, that spicy margarita that we're still dreaming of).

The mark of a good vacation is taking time for a leisurely breakfast, with ChocoBanana being at the top of our list. That's right, Arrested Development fans, besides your classic huevos rancheros and smoothies, you can walk away with a Bluth-style frozen banana dipped in chocolate.

If you're visiting a beach town, stay on the beach as long as you can by enjoying dinner at Don Pedros. You can enjoy anything from ceviche to filet mignon while the kids can stick with pizza for something a bit more their speed.

    Where To Stay

Airbnb rentals are the way to go when you're in Sayulita, with many offering golf cart rentals, pools, and one-of-a-kind architecture. Besides seeing neighborhoods that you might otherwise miss by sticking to traditional resorts, you’ll also get a chance to interact with those who know Sayulita’s best-kept secrets: people who live there.

    What To Pack

Of course, you’ll be showing up with a suitcase full of the brightest dresses and rompers, but for a day doing something you know and love, Sayulita has plenty of shopping for you. With so many stores, art galleries, and beach vendors, you'll never have a shortage of shopping opportunities. Just grab a margarita or a Pacifico from one of the many stands on the streets, and get to it.

While wandering the city, keep things flowy and lightweight to stay comfortable. We know that maxi dresses for beach vacations aren’t the most groundbreaking concept, but it’s a classic choice for a reason!

    5. Thailand

    Thailand

Not feeling the crowds that come with Bali? Then Thailand is a must! Tourism continues to grow in this land of a thousand smiles, and for good reason. Even though flights are still a bit on the pricey side (Google Flight Alerts again!), once you're there, you're golden. Be warned though: when you go, you'll never want to leave (and this may be a repeat destination). The best part is that there are so many different places you can see while you're in Thailand, so just pick a region and go!

    Bangkok

    Bangkok, Thailand

Most widely known for crazy Bangkok nights, this enormous city still tops our list for one of the best outdoor markets in the world. Chatuchak Weekend Market is overflowing with artifacts from all over the country and some of the best vintage you can find. Whether you hit it on your way into the country or on your way out, make sure you locate the nearest post office to ship home your goodies.

    Where To Stay

    What To Eat

Bangkok is home to (in our opinion) the best street food there is. Skip the dinner reservations and hit up the street food to find the best noodles, curries, meat, and veggies. You won't regret it.

    What To Pack

As with most huge cities in Southeast Asia, Bangkok is hot. Actually, no…it’s sweltering. So come prepared with light, airy tops like this Mandola Top from Tigerlily and dresses that can sustain the heat. Don’t forget our favorite jumpsuit from Stillwater that will keep you cool and looking sharp. One item that is crucial for any vacation is a comfortable (and cute) sandal.

    Northern Thailand

    Chiang Mai

    Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is most famous for its more than 300 Buddhist temples and amazing cuisine. Located 700 miles north of Bangkok, Chiang Mai translates to mean “New City” as it became the capital of Lan Na in 1296. One of the most famous temples in the region (and definitely one you must see) is Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Perched above the city, this ornate golden temple shines in the Thai sun. Expert tip: Book a sunrise tour with Untouched Thailand and start your day with an alms giving before you head up to the temple just in time to see the sunrise bounce off the golden statues.

Another thing not to miss while in Chiang Mai is a visit to Elephant Nature Park. Book a tour in the Old City for a day you will never forget. If you have the option to visit the smaller Elephant Park with the waterfall and the baby elephant, we highly recommend.

And don’t forget to drop into a yoga class at any one of the studios in town — the perfect way to prepare your mind for the next day’s adventures.

    Where To Stay

Makkachiva - A gorgeous boutique hotel located right in the heart of the Old City. Book a room with a balcony and you can sip wine watching the sunset on the temple across the street.

Anantara Chiang Mai - If you’re looking for luxury, you can’t beat the Anantara. Indulge in their incredible spa while the kids enjoy the pool, and then take a short walk to Chiang Mai’s famous Night Bazaar.

    What To Eat

While you're at the Night Bazaar, pick up some of the best of Chiang Mai’s street food. And make sure you set a night aside to make the trip to B Samcook Home16. With a beautiful atmosphere and a tasting menu that you'll be talking about for years to come, this is worth dressing up for a memorable night out.

For views of the city and some options for your vegetarian and vegan needs, Xanadu Pub & Restaurant is an easy choice that you can hit on a whim.

    What To Pack

Even though Chiang Mai is set among the mountains, the heat is still comparable to Bangkok. For days spent exploring the temples, be sure to dress appropriately by covering your shoulders and wearing long pants or skirts. Toss the Tulle & Batiste’s Jamawar Rose Kimono in your handbag and you can go from temples to cocktails with ease. And don’t forget the perfect bag to travel with — the Kita Dua Taksu Bali Backpack will keep all your belongings safe.

    Pai

    Pai, Thailand

If time permits, we highly recommend renting a motorbike and hitting the Road To Pai to cruise around the 762 turns through rolling farmland, hills, and forests. Leave your luggage with AYA Service office in Chiang Mai and they’ll take it up to Pai for you. Pai is known as a place of meditation and you can find numerous meditation retreats around town or catch a band in one of Pai’s many hip bars with a mix of tattooed travelers and families looking for the local vibe.

    Southern Thailand

    Phi Phi Islands

Thailand is home to a variety of noteworthy islands in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. We’ve included notes on a couple of our favorites, but this is by no means inclusive of every place to visit (there are just too many gems). One thing we do recommend if you make it to the Andaman Sea is to fly into Phuket from Chiang Mai or Bangkok and stay in Old Phuket Town for a night before meeting the captain of your sailboat and spend the next week sailing around the islands in the Andaman Sea. This is by far the best way to experience these islands and an adventure you’ll remember for a lifetime.

    Koh Tao

    Koh Tao, Thaialnd

Translated to mean "Turtle Island," Koh Tao is the smallest of the three islands in the Gulf and also our favorite. This island is hot on the map for divers and snorkeling with its huge reefs and crystal blue waters. Many come to get certified from one of the many dive schools in just a couple of days. Not into diving? No problem, you won't get tired of the pristine beaches and cheap Changs that flow from morning to night.

    Where To Stay

    • Haadtien Beach Resort - One of our favorite hotels that is set on a private beach on the southern part of the Island. Perfect for families, couples, or friends, this hotel offers a variety of different bungalows to suit your and your family's needs. And with an oceanfront pool, the kids will be occupied while you soak in the Thai sun.
    • View Point Resort - As the name suggests, this hotel is on a higher point of the island. The roads to get here are tough, but the views are worth it. With an impeccable eye to detail, nothing is overlooked at this hotel. Rooms are large, the staff is amazing, and the meditation mount provides one of the best views you can find on the island.

    Koh Phangan
    Koh Phangan

    • Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas - The Anantara collection will not disappoint. It comes with a hefty price tag, but if you're already making the investment, this place is worth the splurge. Perfect for couples and families, they provide nightly beachfront activities including dancing, movies, and games all located on one of the best beaches on the island.

    What To Pack

You’ll likely be living in your bathing suit once you leave Northern Thailand, so be sure to pack a few of our favorites, including the Elisa Tiger bikini top and bottom from Tigerlily. And of course, nothing goes better with a bikini than vintage cutoff Levi's and a hat.
