Let’s face it, friends. Summer date nights bring a world of hurdles with them. How is it possible to look hot when your makeup is melting off your face like an ice cream treat in a sauna? I live in Texas, and in Texas, we have frizzy hair (due to the humidity), chafing thighs (due to sweat), and high blood pressure (that might be due to my in-laws). *Realtime proof: I just slid off of a barstool at a wine bar and there’s an embarrassing puddle of sweat to show for it. We are not hankering—to use some southern slang—for a “hot” date with our partners. 

I never went to summer camp. It feels good to get that off my chest. Some of my friends were repeat summer campers. They would come back from two weeks of camp with braided friendship bracelets, swimsuit tan lines, and cafeteria chants. They were annoyingly upbeat. Personally, I learned about summer camp the old fashioned way: By watching The Parent Trap.

Mother’s Day is almost here and it’s time to air our grievances regarding: 1 -Motherhood and 2 - Mother’s Day. Truthfully, I have a plethora of silly grievances about motherhood and few gut-wrenching complaints. But when it comes to Mother’s Day, I have real frustrations. 

There’s one feeling that I wish could be bottled up for safe keeping: arriving home from a trip and finding a CLEAN house. 

Around our East Texas home, that ambiance is experienced once in a blue moon. And by blue moon, I mean only when my daughters’ school schedules align and I have a day off from work before the trip. 

That’s when my home organization game is ace—when no one is following me around with the wrong end of an Annie’s organic cheddar bunnies bag and a Capri Sun’s crashing waves.
